The experience of taking a cruise will be forever changed by the covid-19 crisis, cruise ships have been hit HARD by the pandemic and day to day cruise ship life is likely to never return to normal. Everything from booking a cruise, dining onboard and excursions will be affected. Guests will be required to follow much stricter rules, have restrictions enforced on them and accept controls put in place to minimise social contact. Before we start, make sure you hit the subscribe button so that you don't miss any future videos. I bring you weekly cruise tips, tours and entertainment on this channel. The changes will take place right the way through from booking a cruise to disembarkation. If you are 70+ you can expect to have to provide some sort of doctors note to prove that you are fit to travel. All guests may be required to show proof of travel insurance and the types of cruises that we book may change too. When cases of covid 19 were discovered onboard the Diamond Princess the cruise ship was put into quarantine and guests spent weeks within their cabins. Inside cabins often hold up to 4 or 5 people and being quarantined with 3 other people in an inside cabin is definitely less than ideal. Genting press release: https://www.dreamcruiseline.com/en/media/press-release/2020/press-release-20200407-gcl-announces-enhance-preventive-measures/ Booking It is expected that an increased proportion of guests will now want to book a balcony cabin or a higher grade, this may drive down the prices of inside cabins and we may see more ships built without inside cabins at all. There are already some cruise ships which don't have inside cabins but these tend to be on the luxury side of the cruise ship scale. Embarking a cruise is usually a pretty easy process, you arrive at the embarkation desk, sign a small piece of paper that says that you haven't been unwell with the last 48 hours and then you embark. This is likely to change forever. Stricter health screening processes will be put into place worldwide and temperature scanning is likely to be a common fixture. I have had my temperature scanned when boarding a cruise ship before in Japan. The technology is already available, it is possible to take the temperature of many guests at once but will have to be implemented to ports across the world. One of the biggest problems for cruise lines when it comes to illness is preventing large groups of passengers from gathering at any one time. To try and prevent this cruise lines may stagger embarkation times or they may have to provide separate waiting rooms in ports. Onboard By far the biggest changes will come from the onboard experience. Dining, cleaning and entertainment are three areas set to change dramatically. Genting cruise lines have revealed new healthcare measures that they'll be taking post covid-19 and this includes the removal of self serve buffets. We can expect this to happen across a lot of cruise lines as it does dramatically decrease the risk of guests infecting one another. The cruise lines in questions will more than likely still have some form of buffets but the food will be served to guests by staff and the cutlery and sauces will not be left on the tables. When it comes to the main dining rooms we may see more space between tables and disposable paper menus may become more popular. Alternatively guests using the cruise lines app may be able to read the menu on their own device rather than requiring a physical menu. Genting cruise lines have already said that they will be implementing both paper menus and disposable cutlery available on request for guests who want it. At present handwashing is highly recommended by cruise lines for guests entering any dining venue but in the future we can expect this to be mandatory. We may also see extra washing stations in places like the theatres, lounges and bars. staff, not only because they care about the guests wellbeing but also because the staff live on the cruise ship. Genting cruises have said that going forward their guests cabins will be cleaned and disinfected twice daily and cabins of sick guests will have to be sterilised to hospital grade. โถ SUBSCRIBE or weekly cruise tips, tours and news: https://bit.ly/34ltwZi โถ FREE TRAINING: Want to learn how to cruise well on a budget? https://bit.ly/31vGORb โถ JOIN THIS CHANNEL: https://bit.ly/3kmSZan โถ BOOKING A CRUISE?
