Accessible Train From Richmond, VA to New York City occurred on March 28, 2025. This will give you a taste of what entry and exit from the train for a power wheelchair. The Richmond Amtrak Station uses a portable lift. I roll my chair up a little ramp onto the lift, then turn the chair so I am facing the train. Past that, I have to make a 90 degree turn into the car. My space is the first open space.Hot Air Tom sat directly opposite me and we shared a pull up table so we can work. There is plenty of electricity and WiFi. The accessible restroom is just beyond my chair so there is no problem using the facilities. The train ride itself was uneventful. As a Business Class ticket holder, I got free sodas. While both conductors offered to get me anything I needed, Hot Air Tom took care of my diet coke supply. We each had a cheeseburger which was outstanding. The Moynihan Train Hall was gorgeous. Not only was the disembarkation smooth, the elevator was right where I got off.
