After the departure of M/S "Artemis" in April, 'P&O Cruises' needed a new ship to take her place. On May 20th 2011, the new ship arrived - M/S "Adonia" formally one of the 'Renaisance' R-Ships and most recently 'Princess Cruises's "Royal Princess". Ironically, "Artemis" was also called "Royal Princess" before she'd joined the P&O Fleet. "Adonia" was named in Southampton Docks on Saturday 21st May and departed on her Maiden Voyage on the 22nd. This video shows "Adonia" departing from Southampton on her Maiden Voyage on Sunday 22nd May, viewed from Hythe Marina, she sails past two much larger ships: 'Cunard's M/S "Queen Victoria" and 'Princess Cruises' M/S "Crown Princess". Both of which gave "Adonia" a send-off salute with their horns.
