Adventure of The Seas Transatlantic Solo

Solo Transatlantic crossing aboard Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas from Barcelona to Port Canaveral. Through the Strait of Gibraltar. This cruise was delayed by 2 days due to issues from the flooding in Southeastern Spain while in dry dock. In addition to being delayed by 2 days, there were some nagging maintenance issues that weren't made known to cruisers before boarding. This videos demonstrates some of those issues and gives insight into some of the attitudes of those onboard. Many were angry throughout the cruise, even though they were offered a full refund prior to embarkation. I think those that were still angry were upset because of the lack of communication from the crew to the passengers. For instance, the hot tubs in the solarium where closed for the entire crossing and any adults wanting to soak in a hot tub, had to use the hot tubs used by kids. Even the pool in the solarium was closed for half of the crossing. Another frustrating issue were the rumors of some passengers being given champagne or other perks for complaining while other passengers who lodged concerns, received nothing. Although there was only one port of call to the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira, at the port of Funchal, this port of call was a very pleasant surprise. I don't think I ever even heard of it before, but I plan to go back. I also met some amazing solo cruisers on this cruise and we met up often. I was surprised about the large number of kids on this crossing. Normally, transatlantic cruisers don't have a lot of school age children. This one did. Perhaps it was Thanksgiving vacation. Some of my favorite things on this cruise was Piano Woman Katherine's entertainment in the Schooner Lounge, the adult only game Crazy Quest, and the specialty dining experience at Chops Grill and Izumi. The best thing was the Port of Funchal. If you get a chance to go there, you'll love it. Despite all that, this cruise was awesome! I had a great time and the food was wonderful. I hope you book on Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas.
