Aix en Provence and Toulon, France on the Mediterranean Coast

we were supposed to dock in Marseille France but there were demonstrations going on about the French government wanting to raise the retirement age a couple of years and Viking rightly aired on the side of caution and decided to skip this docking area and move a little further down the coast to Toulon France

I was sort of surprised that a civilian ship was allowed to come here we saw a few of the naval ships and a submarine coming back into Port

this area has an almost mythical atmosphere because in 102 BC in the neighborhoods there was a scene of where the Romans defeated a couple of Gaelic tribes and there were Mass suicides among the captured Golic women

this is a nice visit it's also a nice place to stay we did get to stay here a couple of nights with a different tour and everything always looks different at night but this is a nice place to stop and come to even if you want to spend a full day here there's a lot to see
