Alaska Cruises 𝑪𝑨𝑵𝑪𝑬𝑳𝑳𝑬𝑫

Alaska cruises won't be operating in 2021 as the Canadian government has just announced an extension of a ban prohibiting passenger cruise vessels in Canadian waters. Under the Passenger Vessel Services Act (PVSA), non-US registered ships that have passengers embark their journey in the USA, must include a stop at a foreign port before passengers may disembark at the end of their journey. This means that cruises that start in Seattle, headed for Alaska, must stop along the way in Canada, typically in Victoria. This would mean a second season without tourism for Alaska, so a lot of people are questioning whether the PVSA will be deferred for a few months, so that the ships could operate, by-passing Canadian ports. The current ban is in place until the end of February, 2022, so an Alaska cruise season may be possible for next summer.
