Ocean cruises take you to a country but river cruises take you through a country! This statement is so true! We are starting our river cruise adventure on the Danube in Budapest… where the river is called Duna in Hungarian. And aboard a unique river cruise ship! AmaWaterways is the only company to have a one-of-a-kind ship like this… The AmaMagna is twice as wide as any other cruise ship on the river! And with all that extra space, has only 25% more passenger capacity. So this makes for more public spaces and larger cabins. AmaMagna has a large lounge, four restaurants, a theater and the only pickleball court on the river! And this will be our home for the next 7 days! An Authentic Hungarian Dinner with Gypsy Music: Instead of eating onboard the first night, we venture out… Our food tour guide recommended a restaurant on the Buda side of the city called Kehil. This is an authentic Hungarian restaurant that was established in 1899. This place has an amazing atmosphere (candlelight, dim rooms and local memorabilia on the walls), but also local Gypsy musicians! You sit and eat delicious food and are serenaded with a unique style of music. Speaking of food… amazing! I had cabbage rolls stuffed with minced pork and roasted pork and flavored with spices that I have no idea what all they were but it was the best meal of the day, and I have had some great food on this day! Dessert was wonderful as well with a trip of spongecakes that just melted in my mouth!
