We visited Boston for a half day in June 2019 and decided to visit Castle Island, plus try out Sullivan's seafood shack restaurant. It was an quick 10 minute or so ride via Uber/Lyft from the Boston Flynn Cruise Port terminal. It was a beautiful day- and the Boston locals were out in force enjoying the sunshine. We took a stroll to Head Island from Castle Island, passing the beach next to Pleasure Bay. The water as surprisingly chilly even during summer. At Head Island we took in views of Winthrop, Deer Island and saw many sail boats in Dorchester Bay. We also caught sights of Marine Park & Pleasure Beach opposite of us, including our cruise ship, the Celebrity Summit in the distance. Back at Castle Island we tried to go inside Fort Independence, but unfortunately it was closed. We did see a touching memorial of Firefighter Robert Greene and the South Boston Korean War Memorial. Later we ate "snack" at the popular Sullivan's Castle Island seafood shack. It was very busy, but the 30 minute wait was well worth it for the delicious Lobster Roll they served. The clam chowder was good as well, though we had mixed feelings with the fried clam strips. Then it was a bit of a rush back to the cruise port before our ship set sailed, but we made it with about 15 minutes to go. This was from our 11 day cruise in June 2019 aboard the Celebrity Summit visiting Bermuda & New England. #castleisland #boston
