On August 19, 2022, while in route to Cozumel; 6 Cuban refuges were in a small homemade boat between the western tip of Cuba and Cancun Mexico. The Carnival Paradise crew rescued them and brought them onboard. At approximately 1:30 am on August 20, 2022, they were offloaded onto a Mexican rescue boat and brought to Mexico.
