Carnival's Exclusive Invite Only Mixology Class

I got invited to one of the most exclusive, not-advertised events on a Carnival cruise: an invite-only mixology class at the Alchemy Bar (or the Amari Bar on ships like Venezia/Firenze… aka the “Atari Bar” if you’re me 😂). This wasn’t your typical “watch a bartender make drinks” demo. The class happened on a sea day before the bar opened to the public, and the whole place felt like our own private cocktail laboratory. We had Pedro, a master mixologist, and he was next-level. He even spent his free time the night before creating zero-proof and low-alcohol options for me because… I’m a lightweight. Respect. In this class we: Crafted three signature cocktails Learned the history of the spirits we used Got tips on the perfect shake Discovered there’s no “karate chop” trick to break the shaker seal (sorry, Daniel San) Mixed our own drinks (which gets more “interesting” as the class goes on 😅) And yes—at the end you get a certificate of completion, which might be the fanciest thing I’ve ever earned on a cruise. 💡 Fun detail: not everyone at Alchemy wears the white lab coat. That’s reserved for master mixologists. If they’re wearing a vest, they’re still in training—and it can take years to earn that coat. How do you get invited? Make Alchemy/Amari your first stop. And your second. And third. You get the idea. Spend time there, actually talk with the mixologists, be cool, and yes—tipping well definitely helps. Just don’t be pushy… seats are limited.
