Celebrity Infinity Cancelled — Stranded in Athens — Now What

Celebrity Infinity cruise cancelled after an emergency at sea. Our February 16 sailing was officially cancelled following a power outage — leaving us stranded in Athens, Greece with eleven days suddenly erased from our itinerary. What began as an emergency at sea quickly turned into a full cruise cancellation, lost ports in Crete, Cyprus, and Turkey, and a ripple effect that impacted flights, hotels, excursions, WiFi packages, specialty dining, and every plan we had in place. Being stranded abroad after a cruise cancellation meant three full days locked in a hotel recalculating costs and exploring alternatives — from another sailing out of Piraeus, to a Nile River cruise in Egypt, to a pivot toward the Greek island of Hydra — only to arrive at the port and discover our high-speed ferry was cancelled without notice during ongoing Greek taxi strikes and recent ferry cancellations. At the time we filmed this video, Celebrity Infinity remained docked in the Port of Piraeus without power while undergoing electrical system assessments and repairs following the onboard power outage. We also share updates on the ship’s sea trials in the Aegean Sea, required third-party safety certification, and confirmation regarding the February 27 sailing departure.
