Cologne, Germany surprised me. It is a beautiful city along the Rhine River, with historic architecture, charming cobblestone streets and plazas, fun brew houses, and much more. I spent a day exploring the city after arriving as part of a Viking Getaway River Cruise. The first part of the day was a two-hour walking tour, booked as an excursion through Viking. The rest of the day was self-exploration, which I extended into the lovely evening. Highlights of the day included the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), Alter Markt or Old Town Market, Haymarket (Heumarkt), and the Lindt Chocolate Museum (Schokoladenmuseum Köln).
