I recently took a cruise from Whittier, AK to Vancouver, BC Canada and stayed a few nights in Anchorage before taking the train to Whittier. I decided to rent a car and meet some distant cousins, I'd never met before, who were working at the Alaska State Fair (Aug 15- Sep 1, 2025). The drive to the fair was spectacular. So spectacular, that I decided to get up early the next day and drive down the Turnagain Arm and see if I could see an amazing tidal bore. This happens when the high tide comes in and raises over 20 feet. Often it produces 5-10 foot waves. I didn't witness anything that amazing but I loved the very scenic drive along the Anchorage coast. It's amazing. This was an wonderful way to spend a couple full days in Anchorage before taking a spectacular train ride to Whittier, AK. #solocruise #anchorage #alaskastate #statefair #solotravel @RixTrips Website: www.RixTrips.com https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg9eVnKxw4yNiLLGF2eZ3Zg?sub_confirmation=1
