Are you traveling to Costa Maya on a cruise ship? This port is one of my favorites if not my favorite. It has so much to offer, great food, great shops, and a lot of entertainment. You are also a short walk to some Mayan ruins as well. Be careful using your debit and credit cards though, mine was skimmed at some point during our visit. When you come to Costa Maya, you do not need to worry about what excursion to take there is plenty to do at the port. You can swim with dolphins, stay at the beach resort inside the port, visit the Avarian sanctuary, grab a bite to eat, and shop till you drop. Keep in mind the pier can have a long walk depending on which dock your ship arrives at.
