Creator's Key Takeaways
The Diamond Princess is a slightly older ship. I believe it's around about 20 years old. Still a very beautiful and very comfortable ship.
some of the food on this ship was the best food we've had on any cruise.
It was very easy to find a nice quiet spot on the ship if you wanted to kick back and relax in one of the bars or even out on the deck.
the bars were always quiet and the food is absolutely exceptional on this ship.

Hello Everyone, The Diamond Princess cruise around Japan and Busan in South Korea is an amazing trip, The food onboard The Diamond Princess I could not fault. The free specialty dining was absolutely amazing, and the main buffet was very good with a selection of Japanese foods, sushi, sashimi and what I loved the most, you could mix and match your own Ramen at almost every meal๐ The service staff is some of the best I have seen in specialty dining. Our inside room was very nice and very comfortable, but they did mix up our room. We had a room with 4 bunk beds instead of queen bed. They fixed it by pulling the two beds together, but we could not stand up getting out of bed without hitting our heads on folded up bunks each side of bed. There is only one thing that happened, and I guess it could happen to any ship, we broke down in the Sea of Japan for about 1 hour until they replaced a generator we were running on emergency power. This was a new experience for us. Their technology is great with the fobs/room key, bit alarming at start when you come back to your room every time and your door is unlocked before you arrive at your door. Rest of cruise was amazing and the commentary onboard ship as we traversed through Kanmon straits about the whole area and history was awesome as we stood on deck taking in this incredible area. There was some entertainment that was a little lacking sometimes at night but the shows in the theatre were great. All in all, I would recommend this cruise to anybody. It was unusual to be on a ship where the casino was closed, not that I ever gamble, but it is illegal for casinos to operate in Japan and that includes Japanese waters, it only opened as we headed for South Korea. Cruise was in August and start September, extremely hot around Japan but amazing weather.
