In this episode, we begin our trip with Celebrity Cruise Line and arrive at our pre-cruise hotel in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. We're on a 10-night package cruise plus land tour in Ecuador. It's amazing how high the elevation of Quito is, and the topography in the area is amazing to experience as you arrive in Quito's modern airport! We planned our air travel with Flights by Celebrity - which worked out really well for us, and embark on the 10-night Cruise/tour package that includes two nights pre-cruise in a luxury hotel in downtown Quito. We'll show you the lovely JW Marriott Quito hotel - which was festive and ready for the holidays when we visited in early December! Celebrity Cruises has staff members ready to greet us and smooth our arrival . . starting at the airport, the transfer from the airport to hotel; the simple hotel 'check-in' process - which they've really completed for us before we arrive. After a warm welcome, we've had an evening to relax, get used to the altitude of Ecuador's capital (above 9000 feet above sea level) and prepare for a day trip around Quito and to the Equator - both of which take place the next day, on our first full day in Quito.
