Highlights of Wellington, New Zealand | Viewpoints, The Coast & Downtown

Wellington, New Zealand's capital, has everything for a visitor, from gorgeous viewpoints, a coastline and marine reserve that is only 10 minutes from the city, movie-making magic and a cable car that takes you to the stunning botanical gardens. My sister and I had a private tour that began at Mount Victoria with incredible views of the city and harbour. We then visited the museum and shop at Weta Cave where you could see and purchase props from films like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar, King Kong and others. We drove to the coast just outslide of Wellington for the beautiful Red Rocks Reserve at the Taputeranga Marine Reserve which has a small museum with information on New Zealand and its flora and fauna, particularly what is found around that marine reserve. We could see all of Wellington from the Brooklyn Wind Turbine, the first for New Zealand. We see part of the town, particularly fashionable Cuba Street with its art and cafes. As Wellington is the capital, we stopped by the Parliament buildings, three buildings from different architectural time periods - the 1970's, the 1920's and the Gothic. We end our visit with the first wooden church in Wellington, Old St Paul's. We did ride the Wellington Cable Car and visit the Botanical Gardens, but that will be in a separate video. Wellington in a wonderful town and we enjoyed our visit.
