Here are over 100 items (including menus & wine package) we tried at the Main Dining Room (MDR) of our cruise aboard the Holland America Veendam in June 2018 for lunch and dinner. Watch us try and taste the food in the vlog. The selection and quality were very good and include many vegetarian offerings as well. The Gala Dinners (we had 3 in the 14 cruise) were especially a treat, rivaling the quality of extra-cost specialty restaurants from most cruise lines. Best lunch entrees were: • Nasi Goreng (Chicken Sate, Beef Sumatra, Crispy Shrimp) • Fish Taco • Farmer's Vegetable Puree (Garlic Crouton) • Swai Tempura (Pineapple Soy Sauce, Sesame Soba Noodles) Top Dinner dishes (including Gala) were: • Whiskey Chocolate Torte • Cracked Pepper Tenderloin with Grilled Shrimp • Rack of Lamb with Cannellini Beans & Garlic • Caribbean Rum Cake with Coconut Ice Cream • Caribbean Jerk Chicken • Grilled Duck Salad with Dried Sour Cherries • Carpaccio of Beef Tenderloin • Roasted spice Crusted Prime Rib with Wild Mushrooms (David Burke - Vegetable Stew, Horseradish Mustard Mousse) • Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail (Brandy Cocktail Sauce) • Surf & Turf Filet Mignon & Lobster Tail • Tiramisu No Sugar Added • Wienerschnitzel with Home-Fried Potatoes & Lingonberry Compote • Seared Black Pepper Duck Breast • Parmesan-Coated Veal Loin • Mango Cream Horn (Chocolate, Tropical Fruit Tartare, Ginger, Tahitian Vanilla) • Hazelnut Mousse Cake No Sugar Added Enjoy and please feel free to leave a comment or ask a question and we'll be happy to reply!
