If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! -----THE FIRST CRUISE ON ADVENTURE OF THE SEAS ------ The first cruise for U.S. travelers on Royal Caribbean in over a year set sail this past Saturday. We were lucky enough to be among the first cruisers on the ship. We secured a 12 pm boarding time, the earliest you could board the ship. Just a few days before the sailing, we were informed that all individuals would need to take a COVID-19 antigen test before boarding the ship. This extra safety precaution did add some stress. Still, we received negative test results and were able to complete check-in and board the ship within 45 minutes of arriving at the hotel that served as a make-shift terminal. Masks off once on board, it was back to our typical embarkation day routine. One thing about Royal Caribbean’s first cruise on Adventure of the Seas is that there is no mask mandate. The crew members are wearing masks, but passengers do not need them. This is because it is a vaccinated cruise. All eligible adults needed to show proof of vaccination before boarding the ship. Some other small changes include social distancing markers throughout the ship as well as distanced seating in theaters, bars, and restaurants. There are also reservation requirements. All of the main theater shows and the Studio B ice show require reservations that can be made on the app once onboard the ship. You even need reservations for the fitness center and the Windjammer buffet. Another way cruising is different with Royal Caribbean is that the Windjammer is not open for dinner. While there are some added health and safety protocols in place, it has not impacted our experiences. At most, these modifications have made for a little extra planning. But, that is really it. We are happy to report that the first cruise on Royal Caribbean is not much different than typical cruises pre-pandemic. Will this be the case for the remainder of the trip?
