#hurricanelee makes an impact as I finish up my first solo cruise aboard #oasisoftheseas as we head north from the #bahamas returning to #capeliberty. First, I check out the new and improved #nassau Cruise Port which is the world’s fifth-largest passenger port. The recent $300m renovation was designed to accommodate increased visitor numbers and enhance the visitor experience. The extended Pier allows additional docking for large cruise ships like oasis and new #iconclass ships. #iconoftheseas As you make your way through the new port area you will see plenty of new shops and amenities including a new terminal building and the new #junkanoo Museum, which showcases #Bahamian culture and heritage. There is still some construction going on and many of the shops are not quite open yet. At the opposite end you’ll find the new #amphitheatre. Also down this end, there’s another exit to the street where you’ll be at the popular straw market and just a bit further is Senior Frogs. Overall, the port simply looks so much better but whether it has a huge impact on your overall experience I think will depend what you plan for your time in Nassau. During my last few days I check out #playmakers for the first time, return to the main dining room and dine at #giovannistable. Entertainment included #cats the #musical, stand-up #comedians and more live music acts. I also took a trip on the #risingtide bar! Then, to cap off this trip, things got a bit interesting as Hurricane Lee caused the most ship movement I've ever experienced due to the ocean #swells, closing the pools but making them quite something to see!
