Welcome aboard Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas! This is our first time sailing on this ship or any ship in Royal's Freedom class, so we are very excited to give it a go! We are sailing out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, FL and it is a very rainy and blustery day! We start the day by showing you our Promenade View Interior room, which is a very fun change to the standard accommodation options. From our room, we were even able to watch the interesting, but oddly entertaining, "Olympus Rocks Parade" that takes place in the Royal Promenade! We really enjoyed being able to take part in the festivities without having to be in the hustle and bustle of the parade. We explored around the sports court area to check out some of the go to activities such as the rock wall, Skypad, and basketball court, as well as enjoyed a chilly and windy sail away! We had a very casual evening by having dinner in the Windjammer Buffet and enjoying the headliner comedian show in the Royal Theatre! We were surprised to find out that they play a recording of the Royal Theatre show on the stateroom TV in case you missed it or wanted to partake from the comfort of your own bed! We went back to the sports deck after night fall to check out the lights and aesthetic that we enjoy, especially the Skypad. We called it an early night so we could be refreshed and ready for a fun day at sea tomorrow!
