Here's my annual end-of-the-year look at what I've been up to this year. I will cover the big health scare that motivated me to start exercising and to lose 50 pounds. Experiencing a TIA (transient ischemic attack) was scary, but ended up being the best thing that could happen to me... because now I'm tremendously healthier than I have been in a long time. (With the exception of a spinal issue that's made it difficult to lay tracks on the ground for new model train videos.) I also give you an overview on the travel I did in 2024. In six different trips this year I had two Caribbean cruises, two cruises here in the USA with American Cruise Lines, a trip to Las Vegas, and a trip to Los Angeles. I talk about what I accomplished in my yard and garden this year, including my best year ever for growing Washington apples, cantaloupe, blackberries, tomatoes, and peaches. Finally, I'll give you an inside look at the slow death of my YouTube channel. The glory days were back in 2016 through 2020. I peaked in 2018 with 59 million views to my videos that year, and it's been all downhill since then. In 2024, views had slid to just six million. Well, OK, that's a pessimistic way to look at it. Optimistically: Hey, I had 6 million views to my YouTube channel this year! Woo hoo! Lots of YouTubers would give anything to have that many views. But for me, the trend is obvious: YouTube is no longer recommending my new videos to a lot of people. Luckily, I still make decent money from the advertising revenue when people watch my older videos.
