Thankful we survived the back to back overnight bus and train combo. We started in Luang Prabang. There we boarded a "VIP" sleeper bus to Vientiane. The ride to Vientiane took about 10 hours. However, it was a rough 10 hours. The roads between Luang Prabang and Vientiane are winding mountain roads. We slide back an forth in our seats the entire time. We arrived in Vientiane around 5 a.m.. We were dropped off at a bus station a little ways outside of the city. We caught a "taxi" into the city and wasted the day at a coffee shop. We were picked up at 3 p.m. for our overnight train between Vientiane and Bangkok. The overnight train from Vientiane to Bangkok took a total 14 hours. The ride wasn't bad at all! Make sure you at least book the second class sleeper car. I wouldn't suggest that my worst enemy ride the bus from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. However, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the overnight from Vientiane to Bangkok to a friend! If you want to know what it's like traveling overland from Luang Prabang to Bangkok check out this VLOG!
