On a recent solo trip to Lucerne, I spent 2 days exploring the town, lake and surrounding mountains. I had a list of things to see and do and I manage to complete my list, which included a cogwheel train up to Mt. Pilatus, a boat cruise on Lake Lucerne, visits to the Covered Bridge, Altstadt or Old Town, the Lion Monument, the Musegg Wall, the Swiss Transport Museum, the Church of Leodegar or Hofskirche, and the Jesuit Church. Lucerne is a glorious city--one of my favorite in all of Europe. For solo travelers, it is a very safe city.
