There has also been an increased in ships sold for scrap. We take a look at where the ships go and what happens to them. All that and more so be sure to check out our cruise news today. Singapore announcing a plan to resume cruising is huge cruise news for cruising enthusiasts. There are still restrictions but it is a positive step forward. Some of the requirements are mandatory COVID19 tests, strict and frequent cleaning, reduced ship capacity to 50%, and following national policy. Currently the national policy for Singapore is to wear a mask and maintain 1 metre distancing. A common recommendation when talking about a cruise line reopening is passengers being required to wear a mask. This follows the CLIA recommendations as well. Hearing about another company opening up does leave us wondering what about the US. This week in cruise news we see a Rally in Miami about cruising. Travel agents and longshoreman were pushing for cruising to resume as many other industries have. If you are someone who wants to cruise from the United States you are still left waiting. Our final cruise news update for this week takes us to Turkey. The Aliaga shipyard in Turkey has seen a 30% increase in business since the start of COVID. These are cruise ships that were sold for scrap. It is interesting to see the progression and how they scrap the ships. Carnival Cruise line has sold 18 of the cruise ships. You can see some of the Carnival Funnels on the back of the ships but the front is unrecognizable. UK cruise line Fred Olsen Cruises did purchase 2 ships from Holland America. We have seen cruising resume in Europe so it makes sense that they are more willing to purchase. A lot of people are anxiously watching and waiting to see what happens to the cruise line industry. We hope that you liked video about the cruise line updates. What are your thoughts about Singapore cruising with no ports?
