The North Star is a glass observation capsule which whisks passengers on Royal Caribbean cruises up to the sky. I tried mine when I recently sailed on Odyssey of the Seas - the new Royal Caribbean ship - and I took a ride in it's North Star glass observation capsule when I was in port in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I took the 'free' 9 minute ride - there are other more extended exclusive rides which are NOT included in the cruise fare. This video shows what the North Star is like, giving POV footage as it rises to a whopping 300 feet (92m) - not good for vertigo sufferers. It shows what it's really like, gives tips on when to do it and be aware, the Odysseys' North Star is record-breaking. It's taller and higher than ANY other of Royal Caribbean's ships! Hope the video doesn't make you giddy!
