Panama Canal Pedro Miguel Locks - Esclusa de Pedro Miguel Canal de Panama
YouTube Video Descriptionโ
A short impression of a Panama Cruise Ship Transit through Pedro Miguel Locks and the Surroundings of the Pedro Miguel Locks. Pedro Miguel is a single lock that takes ships from the level of Miraflores lake up to the level of the Culebra Cut and vice versa. The Panama Canal locks [Spanish: Esclusas del Canal de Panamรก] are a lock system that lifts a ship up 90 feet (27 metres) to the main elevation of the Panama Canal and down again. The original canal had a total of six steps (three up, three down) for a ship's passage. There are twelve locks in total. A two-step flight at Miraflores, and a single flight at Pedro Miguel, lift ships from the Pacific up to Gatun Lake; then a triple flight at Gatun lowers them to the Atlantic side. All three sets of locks are paired; that is, there are two parallel flights of locks at each of the three lock sites.
