Join us on our Penang cruise excursion in Malaysia as we take a George Town walking tour and explore the Clan Jetties! 🇲🇾 In this video, we take you right from the ship to the streets of George Town on a UNESCO World Heritage walking tour to show you exactly how to spend your day ashore on the island of Penang. We stopped at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal during our Southeast Asia cruise on Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas. It was our first time visiting this incredible city and we were so excited to explore the rich culture, history and delicious local food in Malaysia. The cruise ships dock right at the edge of George Town. While you can easily find taxis or trishaws, the area is walkable and you can get to all the main tourists sights on foot. That's why we highly recommend a walking tour to make the absolute most of your day. Our Penang walking tour took us to some of the city's most iconic spots. We started with Penang’s colonial past taking in Fort Cornwallis and the grand City Hall and Town Hall on Esplanade Road. From there, we explored the famous Street of Harmony where different cultures coexist. We saw the historic St. George’s Church, the beautiful Goddess of Mercy Temple, the colourful Sri Mahamariamman Temple and the gorgeous Kapitan Keling Mosque. The walk continued through the vibrant Little India with a bit of free time for shopping and spotting the famous street art on Armenian Street. Most of the cruise excursions we saw had free time in this area. No trip is complete without exploring the historic Clan Jetties built over the water especially the renowned Chew Jetty. It was the perfect way to experience the absolute best of Penang in one day. Overall we had an amazing day on our Penang Cruise Excursion in Malaysia.
