About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionโ
We visited beautiful Portland Maine via cruise ship and spent a fun day there. We started at the Portland Maine Cruise Terminal on Ocean Gateway pier. From there we took a free trolley ride into Old Port as we had booked tours with Portland Discovery online in advance. It looked like you could buy the tickets right outside the cruise terminal as well. The tour guide who drove the trolley provided some interesting tidbits & informative tips about the city before dropping us off at Long Wharf. From there we took a one hour 45 minute trolley tour of Portland, seeing various highlights of the city, including a stop at the famous Portland Head Lighthouse at Fort Allen Park. We then ate lunch at Portland Lobster Co (lobster roll & chowder), and tried some delicious Maine potato donuts by Holy Donuts. After that we went on an hour long Lighthouse Lover's Harbor Cruise. There we saw the various attractions such as the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse, Ram Ledge Lighthouse and another scenic visit of the Portland Head Lighthouse. Afterwards to walked to Duckfat and tried some Poutine (a bit too salty but pretty good), before walking back to the cruise port to return to our ship, the Celebrity Summit. This was from our late June 2019 Bermuda & New England cruise on the Summit. Hope you get some good ideas on where to visit in Portland Maine if you have just one day, and please feel free to ask questions & we'd be happy to reply! #portlandmaine
