Pride of America--Hilo--Volcanoes National Park Excursion with NCL

The Pride of America (Norwegian Cruise Line) sails from Honolulu to three of Hawaii's other islands. Hilo on the Big Island is the second port. Check out my Hawaiian Adventures: https://www.themeparkvistas.com/blog This was the only excursion we booked through Norwegian Cruise Line because we definitely wanted to see Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea was in between the beautiful lava eruptions so we just saw a lot of steam. The excursion met at 8am. It was about a 45 minute trip on the bus to Volcanoes National Park. We stopped at three different viewing locations, including one with steam vents. Our last stop within the park was at the temporary visitor's center, which was tiny. There definitely wasn't enough time at this stop to see the gift shop, information area and the visit the viewing area. I'd love to visit again and stay longer at Volcanoes National Park. One the way back to the ship we stopped at Big Island Candies Store. There were samples of candy and coffee and a big window where you can see candy being made. We stopped for about 30 minutes. I wish this could have been skipped for more time with the volcano. I personally dislike excursions that include specific stops for shopping, it feels like a waste of money when so much is spent on the excursion itself. We returned to the ship around 1:30pm.
