Cunard's Queen Mary 2 has arrived safely arrived in Fremantle after diverting to Australia amid ongoing concerns surrounding cruising in Asia. The QM2 diverted to Fremantle on 9 February and arrived in Australia on 18 February 2020 while the Global Cruise Industry is in turmoil with cruises in Asia cancelled and itineraries modified. QM2 will be in Fremantle for two days. Thousands of tourists will go ashore and spend big in Australia which has been hard hit in recent times due to the bushfires and a reduction in tourism from Asia. The diversion saw the Queen Mary 2 skip Hong Kong and Singapore. Cunard is a 180 year old cruise ship and ocean liner operator based in the UK and since its formation in 1840 has always put safety first. Once again we see safety in for spotlight with Cunard opting to keep QM2 in Australian waters until March. Other lines have also cancelled Asian visits including P&O, Celebrity, Princess and Royal Caribbean.
