"Queen Mary 2", "Independence of the Seas" & "Crown Princess" depart Southampton - 13/07/2013
YouTube Video Descriptionโ
Since entering service in 2004, Cunard's RMS "Queen Mary 2" has completed 200 transatlantic crossings between Southampton and New York. Her 200th ended in Southampton on Saturday 13th July 2013 and her next voyage was to the Fjords of Norway. On this date last year, "Queen Mary 2" was in Southampton with her fleetmates "Queen Victoria" & "Queen Elizabeth". This year, she shared the port with Princess Cruises' "Crown Princess", Royal Caribbean International's "Independence of the Seas" & P&O Cruises' "Ventura". The first of the four ships to depart was "Crown Princess" from the 'Mayflower' Terminal at 16:40 (originally scheduled for 16:00), but she had to turn in the Upper Swinging Ground. Whilst she was doing that, "Queen Mary 2" singled up from the 'QEII' Terminal at 16:45 and reversed around into the River Itchen whilst "Independence of the Seas" departed at 16:47 from the 'City' Terminal. "Queen Mary 2" led the procession down Southampton Water towards the Solent. Her first destination being Stavanger; "Independence of the Seas" was heading for and "Crown Princess" for Olso. "Ventura" was delayed for some unknown reason and did not depart from the 'Ocean' Terminal until 18:15. Viewed from Hythe Marina, this video also featured a Military Landing Craft arriving into Southampton and also the Ro/Ro ship "Autostar" who departed at 17:00 from Berth 31 to Santander, sailing down Southampton Water between "Independence of the Seas" & "Crown Princess".
