It takes an average of 27 minutes to complete the route out and back.The Riverwalk is also known as Moonwalk in honor of Maurice Moon Landrieu who was the mayor when the promenade was constructed. The Moonwalk is a great place where people can walk near the mighty Mississippi River. Mighty!… why mighty? Mississippi River is the second largest river in North America. It is about 2,350 mikes long and has a maximum depth of 58 meters. Because the current is so strong and the water is muddy, you can swim in it but not advised. The area along the river front long devoted to shipping was used as part of the 1984 world’s fair. After the fair the section was redeveloped into the riverwalk upscale mall.
