The 'DORSET COAST EXPRESS' with Nos.44932 + 60019 "Bittern" - 01/09/2010
YouTube Video Descriptionโ
The seventh and penultimate run of the 'Railway Touring Company's 'Dorset Coast Express' trains from London to Weymouth on Wednesday 1st September 2010. With SR N15-class 'King Arthur' 4-6-0 No.30777 "Sir Lamiel" working up at the North Norfolk Railway, another loco was needed to run alongside LNER A4-class 4-6-2 No.60019 "Bittern". As "Tangmere", "Britannia" and "Oliver Cromwell" would not be ready until the end of the year, only one loco was the obvious choice at Southall: LMSR 'Black 5'-class 4-6-0 No.44932, who having been recently restored at Carnforth, was brought down to London to cover for both "Tangmere" and "Oliver Cromwell". In this video, we see No.44932 working the outward run to Weymouth and then later "Bittern" races past with the return working. Both clips are passing through Totton Station.
