The main reason cruise ships visit Skagway, Alaska is so guests can ride the historic White Pass Railway. This railroad was built during the gold rush to take prospectors from the coast into the Yukon. The same rails and rail cars now will take you on a scenic ride up the mountains to the Canadian border and back. This is a must do when visiting this port!! But don't skip the town!! This is a fun spot to take a stroll, do a little shopping and have a couple of unique experiences! First, you have to have a Klondike Doughboy!! This piece of fried dough covered in cinnamon and sugar is just delicious! And second, you must go to the Red Onion Saloon and have a Reindeer Fart! What the heck is that you ask???
