The dish popularly known today as Tik Tok pasta baked feta with tomatoes, garlic, and pasta did not originate on social media.

Its earliest traceable form appears in 1963 aboard the Greek cruise line of Laconia.

One week before the Laconia suffered a catastrophic fire and sank in November 1963, Palakari is said to have written down the recipe for a passenger who had praised the dish.

When it went viral on Tik Tok decades later, it was hailed as a new invention. Though in fact it had already sailed across oceans, survived disaster and entered culinary memory generations earlier.
