The Alaskan market has always offered a unique niche experience unlike the traditional cruise experience. For the 2019 season the region has exploded to a level of demand never seen before with cruise lines sending more and larger ships than the region has ever seen. Cruises often leave from one of 3 ports; Seward Alaska, Seattle Washington, and Vancouver Canada. The port in Vancouver Canada is located right in the heart of downtown and is integrated with a convention center, hotel, and World Trade Center. As part of that massive complex the roof of the port is open to the public offering a unique experience for cruise fans as you can get closer to the ships that nearly any port and get incredible access to watch them set sail. On Sunday May 12th the port was full with 3 ships occupying each of the 3 berths. After delayed departures the Star Princess, ms Westerdam, and ms Noordam all made their way towards the Lions Gate Bridge and on their way to Alaska. On this day while they were delayed, they also had a time crunch as the largest ship to ever sail to Alaska was on her way for an early arrival to hit the tides at the perfect moment to sail under the bridge and dock at Canada Place
