On our getaway to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, we spent a day exploring the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens and the Lowcountry Zoo. From amazing sculptures, to beautiful gardens and landscapes, this place has it all! We loved ending our visit by walking through the zoo and seeing the beautiful animals and birds. Brookgreen Gardens is a unique melding of art, nature, and history. Since its founding in 1931, by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington. You can stroll through the gardens and explore these beautiful spaces on your own. The Lowcountry Zoo has been an important element of Brookgreen Gardens since its inception. All of the native animals in the Lowcountry Zoo were either bred and raised in captivity, or have sustained a major disability due to injury. In either case, these animals could not survive in the wild.
