There were 4 cruise ships departing from Southampton today the 25th May 2018 but 3 of the ships were delayed in making their departure due to a major fire that had broken out in a hold on a bulk carrier ship the 'Sirina' which was full of scrap metal while she was berthed alongside the King George V Dock. The first ship to depart was the Cunard Ship the 'Queen Victoria' from the QEII Cruise Terminal just before 16:30pm for a 8 day round-trip cruise to The Fjords (V818) and her first port call on her itinerary is Bergen in Norway. She was followed by the P&O Cruises Ship 'Ventura' which departed from the Mayflower Cruise Terminal just after 17:00pm she was due to turn in the upper swinging ground but as there was a major fire onboard the 'Sirina' which had produced a great quantity of smoke so the 'Ventura' was not allowed to make this turn so instead she had she reverse down towards the City Cruise Terminal where the 'Norwegian Jade' was berthed and then make her turn in the middle swinging ground instead before she could continue on a short 3 day round-trip cruise to Zeebrugge in Belgium. Shortly after 'Ventura' had passed then it was the turn of the (NCL) 'Norwegian Jade' to depart from the City Cruise Terminal she was also delayed and departed at 17:50pm for a 15 day round-trip Iceland & Uk and her first port call is Bergen in Norway. Soon after 'Norwegian Jade' the Princess Cruises Ship 'Royal Princess' made her departure nearly 20 minutes late just after 18:00pm from the Ocean Cruise Terminal for a 13 day British Isles round-trip and her first port of call is St Peter Port in the Channel Islands.
