And left Chicago behind to fly halfway across the world and begin a new chapter at sea — this time onboard the Carnival Encounter in Australia. There’s a strange kind of freedom in starting over like this. Two suitcases, instruments, a long travel day, and a dream we still believe in as much as the first time we chased it. This isn’t a vacation. It’s work. It’s art. It’s our life. A new ship. A new country. A new season as cruise ship musicians — and all the excitement, fatigue, curiosity, and hope that comes with turning the page and stepping into the unknown again. From Chicago to Brisbane, from the airport to the ocean, from everyday routines to a life built around music and movement — this is what it looks like to begin again at sea.
