Why has Canada extended a Cruise Ban for a full year until 2022? In this video we go over the latest cruise news about Alaska cruises and new cancellations that are likely to come "officially" from all major cruise lines after Canada has banned cruise ships in it's waters. I'm a Canadian cruise blogger and will share some information that is not often talked about, but affects US cruises and travel. While cruises has been paused since March 2020 and cruise lines are still waiting for approval from the CDC to start cruising again, the latest cruise ban from Canada directly impacts Alaska cruises as well as Canada/New England cruises for 2021 at the very least. Due to the Passenger Vessel Services Act, all cruise ships which fly a foreign flag (most cruise ships which sail from the United States), must stop in a foreign port as part of their cruise if leaving and coming back to the US. In the video, we explain about the maritime law and the ramifications on the ports in Alaska in particular. We also look at why Canada has implemented it's cruise ban despite the good news of a vaccination roll out. This is as a Canadian, knowing the health care system and the travel restrictions that are already in place. We also look at any solutions, possibilities and workarounds to the rule, and explore if traveling and cruising to Alaska is still possible.
