On February 24, 2024, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE, the youngest Excellence Class ship, was christened in Galveston, Texas. It was also the 100th birthday of Ted Arison, founder of Carnival Cruise Line. CARNIVAL JUBILEE’s godmother was the American singer, designer and actress Gwen Stefani. She christened the ship during a 45-minute ceremony held in the ship’s theater. A cocktail reception and celebratory lunch followed before Gwen Stefani performed some of her hits, including “Just A Girl” and “Hollaback Girl.” A few days earlier it was announced that the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg would build another ship of this class for Carnival Cruise Line.
