"Columbus" Maiden Cruise - June 2017
YouTube Video Description↓
Cruise & Maritime Voyages's new cruise ship "Columbus" undertook her maiden voyage on Sunday 11th June 2017 on a 3-night trip to Amsterdam and Antwerp from London International Cruise Terminal at Tilbury on the River Thames. The ship was originally built and launched in 1988 as "Sitmar FairMajesty" but the company was bought out whilst she was being fitted out and became part of Princess Cruises who renamed her "Star Princess". She operated under the company and name until 1997 when she transferred to P&O Cruises and was renamed "Arcadia" to replace the recently retired "Canberra". She continued until 2003 when she became the first ship in a new company called Ocean Village, of which she took the name "Ocean Village" and remained like that until 2010 when the company was shut down and she was transfered to P&O Cruises Australia where she became "Pacific Pearl". She stayed there until early 2017 when she was then transferred to CMV and renamed "Columbus" of which she is the company's new flagship. In this video we document a the main highlights of the cruise. These include the sailaways from Tilbury, Amsterdam and Antwerp as well as walking around Amsterdam and Antwerp. We also see a few extracts from the evening shows titled "Anchors Aweigh", "Back to the 80's" and "Feel the Rhythm" respectively. Bon voyage "Columbus" - long may she still sail the seas!
