YouTube Video Description

We were delighted to welcome The Queen's Baton Relay team aboard Queen Elizabeth, at the Mayflower Terminal in Southampton on Wednesday 4 June, ahead of the Commonwealth Games opening in July. The reigning Commonwealth Games record holder 400 metre runner Iwan Thomas led the team of six baton bearers around Southampton. Iwan carried the baton through well-wishers to board Queen Elizabeth at Mayflower terminal and he was greeted by ship's officers in the ship's three-deck Grand Lobby before handing on the baton to James Saunders, the organiser of parkruns in Southampton, on the open deck. James has been instrumental in establishing successful parkruns in Southampton. Iwan and James then took the baton to the ship's bridge, where they were met by Captain Inger Thorhauge. http://www.cunard.com
