Tracy Arm is located about 50 miles south of Juneau, Alaska and is part of the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness. At the head of the fjord are the twin Sawyer Glaciers — North Sawyer and South Sawyer. These active tidewater glaciers regularly calve icebergs into the water. The fjord itself reaches impressive depths of up to 380 meters (1,247 feet). Naturalist John Muir explored this area in 1879 and famously described it as “a wild unfinished Yosemite.” Disney Cruise Line typically sails to Alaska each year from May through September, with the Disney Wonder (and recently the Disney Magic) offering 7-night cruises roundtrip from Vancouver that often include Tracy Arm Fjord scenic cruising. Glacier viewing is not always guaranteed as it largely depends on weather conditions and wildlife population. The captain of the ship typically makes a decision the day of.
