Who doesn't like a little wine? And it turns out that grapes grown in volcanic vineyards - Lanzarote is a volcanic island in the middle of the Atlantic - make the best wine! I went on a wine tasting tour and vineyard walk with Wine Tours Lanzarote (details below) and oh my goodness it was brilliant from start to finish. First off the scenery is like no other - the vineyards grow on black ash and are surrounded by a vista of volcanoes. And then there's the wine itself. White wine (made from Lanzarote's most famous Malvasia Volcanica grape) is the most common wine on this Canary Island, but I also tasted sensational red wine, rose wine and sweet wine.
