On every cruise the captain hosts a welcome aboard reception to introduce his team to the newly arrived guests. On the Grandeur of the Seas this event is taken to the next level with a full theatrical experience in the Centrum. While most welcome aboard receptions consist of 45 minutes of drinks while the captain takes pictures somewhere and then a final 15 minutes where the captain and his team speak, the Grandeur filled the entire hour with quick bursts of entertainment. It started off with the women of the Aerialist team descending in giant chandeliers to poor the first champagne and kick off the event. Shortly after they were finished the captain was formally announced and ceremoniously entered the centrum. After he was done taking pictures the attention once again shifted to the air as the men of the Aerialist team performed a quick show for everyone in attendance and leading right into the typical 15 minutes of speeches by the officers onboard. The list of inidividuals who spoke can be found below. The very next sailing the Grandeur of the Seas suffered a significant fire forcing her to make an emergency stop in Freeport Bahamas where she will remain for 2 months while repairs are performed. Most if not all of these officers remained onboard during that sailing and had to step up to take care of the passengers and crew that they are responsible for.
