Creator's Key Takeaways

I'm taking a 42 day cruise on Star of the Seas.

I'm on standby, which means I have no idea what my room is until it is assigned to me after the ship has already started sailing away.

I have never had this room before. This is such a unique thing for a cruise ship.

I'm feeling very lucky. I cannot believe I got this room.

Creator's Tips & Advice

If you're a standby guest, be prepared for uncertainty about your cabin assignment.
Consider walking the track to stay active while on a cruise.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

I basically live here now. Starting today, I'm doing six back-to-back cruises on Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas. To do this, I'm sailing on the standby list. Just like a flight attendant in the airlines, crew members have a certain amount of "friends and family" standby passes to make it easier and more affordable for friends and family to visit onboard. With crew members at sea for up to a year at a time, it really becomes a necessity. Standby isn't guaranteed though, so you have to show up to the port with your bags packed and fingers crossed. I've been lucky enough to make it onboard all eleven times so far, and am hoping it will all come together for these six final cruises. Why six final cruises? Jaidyn's contract is coming to an end. After ten long months, she's finally heading home and I'm going home with her! So while we have these last moments on Star together, we want to document it as well as we can, and as often as we can. Here's the first day of our final 6 week voyage on Star of the Seas :)
