Independence of the Seas: 2012 Transatlantic Day 4 - Lisbon Portugal: Departure

On Sunday November 25th 2012 the Independence of the Seas made it's first port of call at the city of Lisbon, Portugal. The morning sun brought with it the return of rough seas and high winds. Just ahead of the Indy, the Costa Fortuna was making her arrival as well. As the ship sailed into the bay the winds and seas began to die down but were replaced by fog and bands of heavy rain. After passing under the middle of the 25 de Abril Bridge the Indy made a 180 degree turn before docking at the pier in front of it. Throughout the day the bands of heavy downpours and fog continued to pass through the area. When it was time to depart the Independence of the Seas made a direct departure under the side of the bridge rather than the center. Conditions remained relatively calm through the bay but just like when entering, open waters brought with it more wind and rough seas. That night was the 70's Dance Party in the Royal Promenade hosted by cruise director Joff Eaton and his team.
