Since her launching in May 2008, Royal Caribbean International's "Independence of the Seas" has been a regular sight in Southampton Docks making it her Home Port. However, Saturday November 1st 2014 was to be "Independence of the Seas's" last visit to the port for the foreseeable future. She will be sailing out of the United States from now on and her cruises in 2015 will be handled by the brand-new "Anthem of the Seas", whose sister "Quantum of the Seas" will also be heading for the US tomorrow alongside the other regular Southampton-based RCI - "Adventure of the Seas". Due to sail at 16:30, "Independence of the Seas" finally cast off and departed from the 'City' Cruise Terminal just after 17:00 and left Southampton at dusk. Viewed from Mayflower Park.
